READ THIS: If you've purchased a refurbished Valet Plus M20, be sure to reset your router before attempting installation. This will save you a couple of hours of needless head scratching, frustration and a call to customer service. How to reset the router in 3 easy steps: 1) plug the power chord into the back of the unit and 2)use a pen tip or paperclip to gently press reset button (on back of device) for 10 - 15 seconds then 3) wait for the far right "power" indicator on front of device to stop blinking (takes about 20 - 30 seconds). Then plug your USB quick connect device in and installation will proceed normally. A coworker and I each purchased one of these refurbished routers last week, we both installed at different times and had to call customer service for 15 minutes to learn that a simple hard-reset of the device allowed for easy installation. Other than the "reset" issue, this is a great product and super easy to setup. 4 stars only because of the initial setup confusion... Read more

My only complaints are that the "Easy Setup USB Key" did not function as described. Also, the instructions (embedded in the USB key) did not tell me what to download to manually set it up. I was instead directed to Tech Support.

The Tech support I experienced was AWESOME! I was never on hold, and had a tech who could communicate clearly. Further improving this Tech Support was that the Tech was actually familiar with the equipment.

After downloading the appropriate installation program the sytem was up and running. I went from a download speed of 1.5MBS from my old WiFi router to 13MBS with this one. Life is sweet!

Additionally, despite the "remanufactured" status of the product, it looked brand new. The 90-Day warranty is a downer, but hopefully it will survive only to be superceeded by the next generation of WiFi router.

I don't regret this purchase!

I have some technical know-how, so simple setup wasn't a must, but this was SOOOO easy! It was very nice to plug it in, put the USB setup key in my computer and, WOW!, it worked! NICE!

Range is much better than our old regular linksys that we had. I wouldn't say the range is massive, but we do now get a two-bar signal in our back bedroom that the old wireless couldn't reach at all.

The modem handles multiple wireless devices well...we've had XBOX live, Netflix streaming on an iPad, and internet on two computers going all at once with no problems at all with speed or connectivity.

The security seems ok...I don't really have any complaints. But we do live in a rural neighborhood area, and not in a hugely populated city area, if that makes any difference.

One nice feature is that is allows a guest account, so when people come to your house, they can log on to your network, and you give them a guest password instead of your main password... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great and blazing fast!, April 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Cisco-Linksys E3000 Wireless-N Router (Personal Computers)
Set this up yesterday. Didn't use the included cd, but instead chose to go in manually and set it up via web page config mode. Whole thing took maybe 45 minutes.

Everything looks the same as my old wrt54g router which was creeping on its way to the old age home and who's signal would die every time I'd fire up the microwave.

Easy setup, blazing speeds, setup port forwarding for my xbox 360, port forwarding for my air video server to stream DVR video to my iPhone and iPad, turned on firewall and made sure VPN pass thru was enabled. Set a password on router to change from default. Setup DHCP to have a 7 day lease.

We have almost a completely wireless house. A blackberry, iPhone, iPad, xbox360, netbook, 2 laptops, HTPC, Hp Printer and a desktop.
Everything is hooked up wireless except the desktop.

Setup the 5ghz with a unique SSID and password and connected the xbox360. Tested a 1080i streaming video from xbox live, worked flawlessly... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Cisco connect, May 2, 2010

This review is from: Cisco-Linksys E3000 Wireless-N Router (Personal Computers)
I have read some of the reviews before I bought this router E3000 and was almost not going to buy it because of the bad reviews. So I want to write a review to help people understand this wireless router.

There are only 4 things inside the box when you first get it. The router, setup disk, Ethernet cable, and power brick. There is no instruction manual I don't really think you need one the instructions are on the setup disk. First you have to run the CD first than follow the on screen instructions. It just basically tells you the timing for when they want you to plug in a connection and diagnose if it is working and installs the Cisco Connect program.

YOU CAN USE THE CISCO CONNECT PROGRAM AND THE ADVANCE SETTINGS .

I have looked online from reviews from both amazon and other websites and the major complaint is that you can't use both but you CAN. I have experimented a little bit with the advanced settings (also accessible through 192.168.1.1) that you... Read more

This review is from: Cisco-Linksys E3000 Wireless-N Router (Personal Computers)
The overall wireless performance is very good. Firewall features are Ok but lacking services like VPN. MAC based DHCP reservations are now included, which is great. I have tried the integrated NAS with an 8GB SanDisc USB thumb drive. It works but don't expect screaming performance. Theere are QoS settings supporting Rhapsody, iTunes, Skype and the major messenger services. Also includes an integrated FTP server which I have yet to mess with.

The include Cisco Connect software is awful! Unfortunately you must use it if you want to setup a guest WiFi account (limited to 10 users), a feature not available through the web interface. The Cisco Connect configurator is incapable of syncing with any "advanced" setting made through the web interface. forcing you to use stupid password rules and other assumptions enforced when you use the software. Additionally the out-of-box setup CD-ROM application failed for me due to a non-expired DHCP lease from my broadband modem,... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars READ THIS - Great device, but only with newest firmware 1.0.03, August 29, 2009
By
This review is from: Cisco-Linksys WRT320N Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (Personal Computers)
I have this router now for six weeks. Right out of the box it gave me great speed over wired Gigabit ethernet. But over a few days, the speed went down to good ol' dial-up times. Only a router reset gave back the full speed - for a few hours until the problem came up again.
There was long discussion about this problem over at the vendor forum, and finally the issue was solved by Linksys/Cisco (had something to do with UPnP, you don't wanna know the details).
So please do yourself a favor: Buy this router. It is the best device for a home great network with a fast internet connection. BUT immediately after purchase, upgrade the router firmware to Ver 1.0.03 build 10 (release date 08/13/2009). It will save you the trouble I had.

This review is from: Cisco-Linksys WRT320N Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (Personal Computers)
I bought this to replace my Linksys WRT54GS wireless router because I wanted the gigabit functionality for my wired network. I installed this router without using the included software. It worked instantly and flawlessly.
I have only had it for about a week. So far, I have nothing negative to report. The strength of the wireless signals is improved and my wired computers (3) transfer data at incredible speeds.
Installing routers successfully, especially wireless routers, requires a solid understanding of the technology and options available to you. I was actually hesitant to buy this router because of the negative reviews I read, but I wanted gigabit connectivity and this seemed like the best option. A lot of products get blasted, but its not always clear whether the problems lie with the products or those attempting to install and use them.
Suggestion: When installing wireless routers, I suggest filtering MAC addresses for wireless connections to only allow computers... Read more

Linksys by Cisco WRT320N Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router
We were connecting a Vista laptop running a Dlink N adaptor, a MAC laptop and a wired Vista desktop. This home/office configuration previously operated on a Linksys wireless G router. We have been using Linksys routers for several years. When the older G router finally failed, we stayed with the same vendor. We purchased a new Linksys WRT320N. Initially the WRT320N connected and appeared to be much faster and better. A few hours later we started having connection trouble. Our MAC laptop would lose the connection and need to be reconnected using the SSID and the wireless password. Both the MAC and the Vista laptop would separately lose connectivity to the WRT320N network. Our wireless distance was about 20 feet from the WRT320N router. Sometimes when we attempted to...
