4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap NAS Solution! (If you can get it to work), February 23, 2011

The Router Reviewed here has a PART number F7D7301 (Red Box) but in reality it is nothing but F7D3301 in disguise (Peeling off the F7D7301 Sticker will reveal that it is a Belkin F7D3301.

Why did I pick this? when there are so many frustrated users who has complained about this router!!!

The main reason is to use this router for a cheap NAS solution, The beauty of this device is that it can natively support NTFS (Read/Write) support using it's 2 USB slots! This opens up a whole world of possibilities, You can connect a USB hub and it can mount multiple HDDs connected (Up-to 2TB each) to the router and share those drives around the house wireless! at 802 11n! speeds!, you can attach a regular USB printer and make it a wireless printer and if you have media sharing devices that you can join the private N Wireless network so all other devices in the house can share media files the list goes on and on...

Agreed with others who commented here on Amazon on... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Looking for consistency? Look elsewhere., November 19, 2011

It's been a while since I looked at routers, since my Linksys was still doing the job, it just didn't have Wireless N and or support gigabit throughput. A lot of things in my home network have changed since I last bought a router, so I was looking to update the router so the laptops and network devices I was using could communicate at their optimal levels. I purchased the Belkin Share Max N300 because on paper it looked like what I was looking for and more. Gigabit support, Wireless N, and two USB ports so I could make my printer a network printer, or add another network storage location!

I picked it up at a local location that had them on sale instead of getting it at Amazon. I came home, plugged it in, configured the wireless settings and started using it. From the get-go, nothing has seemed to be consistent. The wireless works for 1-2 hours, but then just bogs down until it's unusable. I've tried different wireless bands, I don't have any interfering devices... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Believe The Outdated Bad Press, April 21, 2012
This review is from: Belkin Share Max N300 Wireless N Router (Personal Computers)
I bought this router several weeks ago from another website, as the price, with the free shipping, was too good to pass up, and I'd been looking to upgrade to a gigabit Wireless-N router for awhile.

I was a bit wary because of all the negative reviews this gets from various websites, but the price being as low as it was, I figured it was worth the risk.

I had read about a firmware update for the router, so the first thing I did, as soon as I got the router installed and set up, was to go through the very easy process of updating the firmware to the latest version.

Long story short, I haven't experienced the slightest problem with this router. Not one.

I'm sure this product did have all the problems mentioned by the negative reviewers before the firmware update was released. But, a few minutes spent updating to the latest firmware erases all those problems, in my experience. Or, if you really want to, you can install DD-WRT firmware, as... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars I was skeptical - now I am a believer, November 6, 2010

Marianne Fletcher (St. Joseph, MO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: VIZIO XWR100 Dual-Band HD Wireless Internet Router (Personal Computers)
As Vizio products had the reputation for being the 'WalMart' of electronics, I was skeptical to try this router. I did some homework and found that others who had tried it were Very satisfied with it's performance. What better endorsement than that of a fellow user? So, since the price was Half that of the Cisco comparable - why not give it a shot. I had been using a Netgear wireless G and was having no problems. When I added a Sony HD TV and BluRay player, set up for wireless -- I began to have some stalls and 'waiting to catch up' times - especially on Netflix HD feeds. This Vizio dedicated the to 5.4 band Just for the HD video feed and has performed better than I Ever hoped.
Set-up was Out of the Box to Working in less than 10 mins. The interface is Easy to use. All my devices (3 PCs - 2 iTouch - and a Sony Dock - in addition to the TV) recognized and accepted the device immediately.
I would buy one again, and definitly recommend this to anyone wanting to watch HD... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic router for simple home networking and streaming, January 24, 2011

This review is from: VIZIO XWR100 Dual-Band HD Wireless Internet Router (Personal Computers)
I purchased this Vizio router to replace a trusty old Linksys WRT54G that I've been using for almost 8 years. While the G router had been great and reliable, I was starting to get serious bandwidth issues when trying to perform multiple high-bandwidth activites at once in the house (wife streaming Netflix to Blu-ray player upstairs, kids gaming online downstairs, me hosting LiveMeeting conference through VPN, etc). Only a few of my components even support N, but the ones that do typically need the highest bandwidth. In my network we have connected: 4 pc's, macbook, xbox 360, wii, playstation3, ipad touch, TiVo, blu-ray player, A/V receiver, 3 smart phones (Android and iPhone), and 2 printers.
I had been waiting for the right dual-band router to come along, and this Vizio router finally fit the bill of price, features, and convenience. Set-up was very easy and straightforward, and within 30 minutes I had both my G(2.4ghz) and N(5ghz) networks up and most components connected... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy set up, good price, vizo hits a home run., October 16, 2010
This review is from: VIZIO XWR100 Dual-Band HD Wireless Internet Router (Personal Computers)
This was the easiest router I've ever set up. The directions are simple to follow. The entire directions are step by step in big letters and have good digrams/pictures to help you along and its only two laminated cards 5x10 inches. It seems that Vizo made it for the common guy with not alot of computer knowlege. I was up and running in about ten minutes (install, laptop, 2 PS3's and Itouch). Not a computer geek, but it broadcast in 802.11 a/h, 802.11g/n and 802.11b. My laptop, itouch and PS3 immediatley reconized the 802.11g/n and took the security key (WPA) that was given with the setup paperwork and is operating at 2.4HGz. There's three security keys given with the directions, so if your device reconizes the router, you can just input a key until the right one is input. I belive that the 802.11a/h (WPA2 security key) would only work for new faster devices. Again, this was easy to set up and is faster than my old router. I could only imagine how fast it is if I had a device... Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
Although I am a proficient computer user, I am not much of an expert in networking. In the past, I have had several routers (Cisco, Linksys, etc.) that required way too much troubleshooting for my level of expertise. So far, this router has been extremely simple to use and hasn't dropped my connection at all. Given the track record we have had with other routers in my home, that alone is a huge improvement. I also tested out the "Self-Healing" app that does diagnostics on the network, to see what it was like, and it seemed to be effective and intuitive (although since I haven't had any real trouble yet, I don't know how it would perform under pressure). The dual-band is, as other reviewers have stated, an advantage for a home like ours that has a wide variety of wireless devices throughout the house. The speed was not notably faster than my old router, but, then again, my old router would drop the connection periodically, so I really can't complain. Obviously there are... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Super Easy Set up, November 6, 2011

This review is from: Belkin N450 Wireless Dual-Band N+ Router (Latest Generation) (Personal Computers)
I was overwhelmed by all the technical details of routers and was getting nowhere reading the endless reviews of the different brands & models both on amazon and other sites. I wanted to get a good value on a router but I also didn't want to end up with a piece of crap. This router had way fewer ratings & reviews than others I had browsed through, but what caught my eye was how easy other users claimed it was. Even though I was a bit skeptical, I just went ahead and bought it. Connecting it and setting up a wireless network was a breeze. In the box, there was the router, an ethernet cable, a setup disk, and a paper tag with the name and password for a network. I took it out of the box, plugged the ethernet cable into the router, connected my desktop to the router, and plugged the cable from the router into the internet modem. Inserted the setup disc into my desktop, clicked a few buttons, typed a few words and I was done. Internet access on my desktop, and internet for all my... Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
Our LinkSys router began acting up a few months ago, and we switched to this Belkin model. Out of the box, installation was simple, easy and fast, all the attributes I love when working with electronics! I am not an overly technical person and thoroughly appreciated the clear directions and three simple steps. Installation and setup went exactly as indicated by the box instructions.
As far as functionality, I've been very pleased. We have a number of wireless devices in the house, and all have had speedy, reliable connections. My old router occasionally had to be reset and/or would drop the connection - no such issues after a few months with the Belkin.
On a side note, I also like the design of this model. My old router had to sit horizontally on the desk and it was sometimes hard to see the interface buttons. This router sits vertically and is easy to see and manipulate when needed.
Overall I'm quite pleased and would recommend this router, especially for the... Read more
