The main reason is to use this router for a cheap NAS solution, The beauty of this device is that it can natively support NTFS (Read/Write) support using it's 2 USB slots! This opens up a whole world of possibilities, You can connect a USB hub and it can mount multiple HDDs connected (Up-to 2TB each) to the router and share those drives around the house wireless! at 802 11n! speeds!, you can attach a regular USB printer and make it a wireless printer and if you have media sharing devices that you can join the private N Wireless network so all other devices in the house can share media files the list goes on and on... Agreed with others who commented here on Amazon on... A lot of things in my home network have changed since I last bought a router, so I was looking to update the router so the laptops and network devices I was using could communicate at their optimal levels. Gigabit support, Wireless N, and two USB ports so I could make my printer a network printer, or add another network storage location!I picked it up at a local location that had them on sale instead of getting it at Amazon. I came home, plugged it in, configured the wireless settings and started using it. From the get-go, nothing has seemed to be consistent. The wireless works for 1-2 hours, but then just bogs down until it's unusable. I've tried different wireless bands, I don't have any interfering devices... I had read about a firmware update for the router, so the first thing I did, as soon as I got the router installed and set up, was to go through the very easy process of updating the firmware to the latest version. Long story short, I haven't experienced the slightest problem with this router. Not one. I'm sure this product did have all the problems mentioned by the negative reviewers before the firmware update was released. But, a few minutes spent updating to the latest firmware erases all those problems, in my experience. Or, if you really want to, you can install DD-WRT firmware, as... Read more |
